Our client is a leading manufacturer of structural products for the offshore wind and oil and gas industries. Due to increased workload they now require an Engineering Estimator to work from their busy Newcastle facility.
Responsibility for preparation of reliable time, cost and labour estimates for products, projects or services by performing the following duties:
Analyse and interpret technical specifications, reference drawings, technical documents and regulatory body regulations.
Review data to determine labour, material and subcontract requirements and prepare itemised estimates.
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors and determining cost effectiveness.
Prepare quotations and proposals.
Consult with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Request quotations and analyse subcontractor quotes in consultation with purchasing to determine best alternative.
Experience in shipbuilding, offshore fabrication or marine engineering, whereby experience as an estimator is an advantage.
Ability to write reports, technical proposals and other correspondence.
Excellent computer skills and experience in working with Microsoft Office applications such as excel, word, access and projects.
Ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the company, clients and suppliers.
Commercial awareness, a positive attitude and good communication skills.
Ability to perform the duties required, both independently and as a team.
The capacity and motivation to travel and to work flexible hours.
This will be a long term contract position
