- Our client is a leading engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across a number of marine and defence related areas. Due to recent projects won they now require a Commercial Officer to join their busy North East office.
The Role
Manage major subcontracts, ensuring adherence to specifications and commercial control.
Coordinate purchasing activities and manage risk management and cost control processes.
Prepare and update subcontractor and main contract final accounts.
Handle contractual and legal matters in collaboration with the Contracts Manager.
Support internal and external reporting cycles including client reviews and progress reports.
Provide contractual, commercial, and administrative support to the Project Manager.
Attend and minute project meetings and provide support to sales proposals and bids.
The Person
Excellent understanding of contract and commercial principles and processes.
Knowledge of contract management methodologies.
Familiarity with engineering concepts and construction processes.
Proficient in software tools including Planning, PDM, ERP/MRP systems, and MS Office.
Good understanding of contract terms and conditions.
Experience in managing multiple key suppliers/subcontracts.
Analytical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ideally some experience in Quantity Surveying or related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction and/or engineering.
