The role is within a fast-paced, technically demanding project-based business that delivers integrated products for the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable, and defence markets.
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of projects in line with contractual obligations, specifications, and quality/safety requirements. You will manage client relationships, including progress reporting, query resolution, and change management. Additionally, you will establish and lead the project team, ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders and functional disciplines.
Your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, from planning and prioritising to expediting tasks related to engineering design, procurement, production, commissioning, acceptance, and delivery. You will ensure that Project Governance and Project Controls are applied throughout the project.
Job Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering (or other disciplines) within the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable, and/or defence sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., APM, PRINCE2).
  • Proven experience leading project teams to successfully deliver complex EPC projects in these industries.
  • Excellent planning, configuration management, and contract management skills.
  • Extensive experience with contract amendments, variations, and managing key suppliers/sub-contracts.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • Highly motivated, driven, and able to work independently.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in engineering/project management of complex design and build projects for global clients.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Membership with a recognised engineering body (e.g., IMechE).
  • Formal project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
  • Proficiency in planning software (e.g., MSP, Primavera), ERP/MRP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP), and PDM tools (e.g., TeamCenter), as well as MS Office and SharePoint.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Project Manager to join a dynamic team in the North East and manage projects in a growing sector.
