Description
Our client, currently delivering an HVDC Interconnector on the South coast as part of a long term project, now requires a Site manager to act as Contractor Representative.

This contract is outside IR35 and expected to last until around 2030.

The Role

Using the site team, direct and supervise all site-based activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, approved design, programme and quality standards.
Monitor progress against the programme, proactively resolving local issues to maintain productivity and reporting any deviations from the programme.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure smooth workflow and interface management across the site.
Report daily progress, issues and resource requirements to the Lead Project Manager.
Ensure accurate site records are kept and up to date, including permits, inspections and daily logs.
Oversee site establishment, mobilisation and demobilisation, including site accommodation, welfare, security and site access arrangements, in line with the Construction Phase Plan

Undertake the duty holder role of Contractor Representative or Principal Contractor Representative under the CDM Regulations 2015, appointed via the NG/ET/SR163.11 Appointment Form and accepted by the Client Representative.
Properly plan, manage and monitor the construction phase, and coordinate matters relating to health and safety to ensure work is carried out without risk to health or safety.
Take responsibility for the complete management of the Works, including those of subcontractors and all activities within the CDM area.
Attend pre-start meetings and ensure a robust quality plan and audit trail is maintained for all site installation activities.

The Person

Relevant academic qualification (e.g. civil/electrical engineering degree, HND or HNC) or demonstrable equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained on comparable HV transmission or major infrastructure projects.
Formal Site Management qualification, e.g. SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent.
EUSR registration, or willingness to register, in line with NGET requirements.
Valid competency card acceptable for NGET sites (CSCS, CITB SMSTS/SSSTS, CCNSG Safety Passport, or SHEA Power Passport for utility works).
Demonstrable working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, UK Environmental and Waste Management legislation, and safe control of Temporary Works.
Understanding of Impressed Voltage causes, consequences and controls.
Training in avoiding danger from underground services and, where relevant, avoiding danger from overhead power lines
Familiarity with NGET Supplier Requirements Procedures relevant to the role (e.g. SR106, SR107, SR135, SR141, SR163, SR183, SR188, SR234, SR241).

Proven experience as a Site Manager or Site Agent on major electrical transmission, substation, HVDC/HVAC cable, or comparable heavy civil/energy infrastructure projects or linear projects.
Experience operating as a CDM duty holder (Contractor Representative / Principal Contractor Representative) or in a directly comparable role.
Track record of managing multi-disciplinary site teams and subcontractors safely and to programme in a live operational or high-voltage environment.
