Project Manager

 

Purpose:             

To lead key technical IT projects within the Smart Cities Programme to provide next generation digital infrastructure and enable a series of transformational digital and data driven solutions and use cases.  

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading and managing specific technical IT projects within the Smart Cities Programme, a large and complex corporate and city-wide level programme of work

  • Responsible for planning, leading and delivering technical IT projects, organising project teams consisting of internal staff members, partners and contractors to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering specific projects that provide exceptional business value. 

  • To manage and deliver several concurrent, high visibility pieces of work, all of a technical IT nature using established programme management and agile methods in a fast-paced environment that will cross multiple business divisions, external and partner organisations.

  • To ensure standards are adhered to and follow the established structures, processes and tools to optimise the efficiency of project delivery. 

  • To use a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile development approach.

  • To ensure the delivery of projects on time and within specified budgets ensuring benefits are tracked and realised. 

    Experience/Education/Training:

  • A high level of knowledge of delivering technical IT projects with a focus on digital connectivity. 

  • A proven track record of successfully delivering large scale and complex programmes including 5+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager managing large, complex technical IT projects with multi-function teams with a focus on digital connectivity.

  • A high level of knowledge of both traditional project management principles and practices and Agile methodology and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a programme and business environment

  • Experience of overseeing multi-function project teams including both IT technical and business personnel

  • A good level of technical IT background to provide highly credible leadership to project teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues

  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools: Microsoft Planner, Visio, and all Office Tools

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business need with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Proven ability to lead projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met

    Skills/knowledge and Ability:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels.

  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view

  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
