- Description
- Our client is a large fabrication company servicing a variety of sectors from their busy North East facility. Due to recent projects won they now require a Quality Engineer on a full time permanent basis.
The Role
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and standards to meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Perform thorough inspections and testing to determine quality requirements
Sign off completed activities and arrange for customer sign off said activities.
Conduct weekly surveillance tour of the units and ensure any quality concerns are brought to the attention of the project / production teams.
Review resources, liaise with project/production to determine build priorities and discuss with Quality Manager any concerns in achieving required targets.
Ensure all non-conformances are recorded, all NC’s are investigated to determine root cause and verification of corrective and correction actions are recorded.
Conduct surveillance tours of shop floor to monitor correct ITP’s and WPS’s are posted at work stations.
Investigate quality issues to determine the root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions
Compile project related KPI’s / Metrics.
Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including test results, inspection reports, and other relevant documentation.
Mark-up ITP’s at workstations, maintain spread sheets for ITP approval and hold point status.
Ensure all reports generated during manufacturing process are completed in timely manner and retained within the manufacturing record books.
Inspection notification requests are endorsed by the client’s on-site team and copies retained
Ensure that the Weld/NDE spread sheets are being regularly updated with all the relevant information.
Compile weekly status report for both company and clients
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements while maintaining product quality
Monitor and evaluate the quality of materials and components from suppliers and work with them to address any quality concerns.
Provide training and guidance to production and quality control teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and quality control techniques to continuously improve quality processes.
The Person
Competent with MS Office, proficiency with Quality tools
Analytical problem solving and organisational skills, a strong time manager with the ability to prioritise on multi projects
An effective and efficient communicator able to collaborate at all levels within the business
Quality/ compliance driven to ensure quality standards are maintained to the highest standard
Commercially aware of project and business requirements
Degree in Engineering or similar would be ideal
Fabrication experience through a time served apprenticeship programme is desirable, bringing knowledge of fabrication processes and industry standards
Valid CSWIP 3:1 (or equivalent) is preferred
Experience within a collaborative engineering environment
Commercially focussed Planning experience, ideally gained with heavy fabrication projects
