- Our client is a leading engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across a number of marine related sectors. Due to recent projects won they now require a Lead Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join their busy North East facility.
The Role
Commissioning engineers will be engaged in the testing of bespoke equipment to make sure they function correctly and produce the expected results. In doing so
they will bring the product or system to a point at which it can be used most effectively.
Commissioning engineers therefore need to possess a thorough understanding of the construction and product use, as well as customer expectations.
To assist the Snr Commissioning Engineer in developing commissioning plans for enquiries, proposals and projects. From an Hydraulic/Mechanical aspect
Provide experienced input to develop the commissioning and test plans including FAT’s and sea trials.
Manage and maintain the department’s equipment & assets, test equipment, in-house spares, highlighting areas of concern and development to the Snr Commissioning Engineer
Assist the Snr Commissioning Engineer /project team with the implementation of the commissioning plan and gaining acceptance of the equipment to schedule and budget.
Assist with the resolution of Hydraulic/Mechanical issues, that may arise during the commissioning and FAT of equipment.
Insure that Hydraulic/Mechanical aspect LOTO procedure is in place at all times
Support the development and complete suitable documentation during the commissioning phases including punch lists, test records, acceptance certification and commissioning close out reports
Record customer feedback on equipment performance,. Use this information to improve company performance going forward
Complete daily reports (DPRs), progress reports and publish to agreed mailing lists.
Liaise with all relevant departments (Design, Construction, and Supply Chain ) to ensure smooth transition and sign-off of the contract at all involved phases.
Ensure all documentation is prepared prior to commissioning and support activities commencing.
Ensuring the safe testing and commissioning of completed installations to achieve the necessary Equipment performance in accordance with project schedule requirements.
The Person
Skilled in advance Hydraulic /Mechanical knowledge
Supervisory experience
Be able to read and understand, Hydraulic schematics/ Mechanical drawings to a high standard
Have, or be willing to work towards, the Fluid Power Course (minimum level 2)
High voltage awareness and fibre optics
Be competent in the use of all Microsoft Office products
Be able to read and understand mechanical, electrical and hydraulic schematics/drawings to a basic standard
To be able to work away from home for extended periods of time (in general no more than 6 weeks unless mutually agreed)
Be able to fault find and provide temporary/permanent solutions on site
Understand the risks when working with high pressure, complex hydraulic machines.
Be able to read and understand hydraulic schematics in terms of the operation of a machine
Converse with the design engineer to explain a hydraulic issue and agree a course of action
Understand how the hydraulics integrate with the mechanical, electrical and software
Understanding of Permit to work Procedures
